  • Miche De Lucchi

With a degree in architecture from Florence, he was at the forefront of movements such as Cavart, Alchymia and Memphis during the years of radical and experimental architecture. In 1987, after years of studies, he designed Tolomeo for Artemide, the table lamp with which he won his first Compasso d’oro award. It soon became the archetype of the lamp with adjustable arms. From 1988 to 2002 De Lucchi was at the head of the Olivetti Design department for which he designed laptops, monitors, printers, faxes and computers. He received his second Compasso d’oro in 2001 thanks to his design of the Olivetti Artjet 10 printer. During his long career he developed experimental projects for Compaq Computers, Philips, Siemens and Vitra. He designs buildings and exhibitions for museums such as the Triennale in Milan, Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, Neues Museum in Berlin, the “Cini” Foundation in Venice and the Gallerie d’Italia in Piazza della Scala in Milan. In 1990 he set up a Private Production, as part of which De Lucchi designs products without being commissioned for them, using handmade techniques and skills. A selection of his “objects” is available in the most important museums in Europe, the US and Japan.

I never had any doubt about choosing wooden floorings because I know wooden floorings always work well
  • The project

Michele De Lucchi and Phillipe Nigro reinterpret a 500-year-old material with Quadrone Natural Genius. Teak takes 200 years to grow, while 300 year old Indian buildings from the colonial era were made with this material. Following patient restoration works, these buildings are the origin of the precious raw material that creates the unique amber shades of Quadrone. The essential design with a square base creates a true natural chessboard where the linear orthogonal patterns blend with the old teak's wide grain. Rather than a wooden surface, a true work of art to display on a wall as well.

Biosphera is a marking system based upon Listone Giordano’s green procurement policy which fulfils the need to provide the end-consumer with a brief, clear and useful piece of information regarding the source of the raw materials used in the manufacturing process. This focuses uniquely on the safeguard of the forests with regards to the specific characteristics of multilayer wood flooring. Therefore it is not meant to replace the international certification protocols of broad diffusion, which usually refer to wider fields of interest and application. Listone Giordano, through this protocol, aims at promoting the culture of environmental responsibility and the purchase of certified wood species.

The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is the international certification of the chain of custody which identifies those products containing wood originating from forests who have been managed in a correct and responsible way, according to strict environmental, social and economical standards.

Listone Giordano promotes the purchasing of wood floors manufactured with raw materials from eco-friendly forestry management and a system of traceability. We make our customers aware of purchasing certified wood species.

PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is the international certification for the chain of custody ensuring the sourcing of raw materials from eco-sustainable managed forests.

Listone Giordano promotes the purchasing of wood floors manufactured with raw materials from eco-friendly forestry management and a system of traceability. We make our customers aware of purchasing certified wood species.

French decree no. 2011 - 321 (23 March 2011 - Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing) imposes all manufacturers of building materials to declare VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds)  emissions in the form of emission classes and requires mandatory labelling of products. Listone Giordano's commitment to heath and the protection of its customers have lead to the A+ rating of all its products, the highest among those in the decree.

DIBt (the German Structural Engineering Institute) is one of the top European authorities on engineering science and technology and is located in Berlin. The certifications issued by this prestigious international institute represent an essential guarantee for consumers as a certified guarantee in terms of testing and reliability. Since 2011, building materials in Germany must have the specific DIBt certificate of conformity for emission limits of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) required by the AgBB/DIBt regulation in order to freely circulate in Germany. All products developed by Listone Giordano have successfully attained this certificate, as shown by the relative Ü trademark on the product's label

Listone Giordano’s attention to all the materials involved in its wood floor production is painstaking, using only eco-friendly, non toxic and odourless products. Key elements when we get down to superficial protection (finishes). The high-resistance Listone Giordano finishes are applied thanks to a special varnishing system (UV-rays catalyser) resulting in No emission of solvents in the atmosphere.

  • CARB

CARB Certification certifies that the birch plywood panels used in the construction of Listone Giordano floors comply with  ATCM 93120 Regulation issued by CARB (California Air Resources Board) regarding the low formaldehyde emissions of wood-based materials, introducing much more restrictive limits than those required for the most performing among the European class, the E1.

The properties of fire resistance regarding Listone Giordano wood floors were determined on the basis of tests conducted in accordance with EN 13501-1 or classified as required by EN 14342: 2013.

  • F4 STARS certification

Listone Giordano wood floors comply to the most restrictive class F **** classification system on formaldehyde emissions defined by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT): according to this class levels of Formaldehyde emissions must be below 5 μg / m²h.

(Comparative tests show that the most restrictive class F **** implies formaldehyde emission levels below half of those allowed to get the E1 class in Europe).

The testing procedure and subsequent certification at the MLIT was carried out in collaboration with RISE (Research Institute of Sweden), an independent third party officially recognized by the Japanese authorities.

  • Toy certification

Listone Giordano finishes have been approved in keeping with EN71-3 regulations that ensure products are safe for children to play with.
