The Jewel Box” designed by the international interior architect Inge van Poppel is an impressive transformation of a dwelling into a charming courtyard in Vught, a small town in the south of The Netherlands. Upon entering, the house unfolds like a precious jewel box, with a special attention to luxury and refinement, making the project both visually and functionally exceptional.

The overall concept was entirely designed and curated by Inge, who led the project from start to finish. The residence was custom-designed and crafted, specifically tailored to the clients’ wishes and needs. The result is a home that is both aesthetically and practically balanced, with great attention to detail, harmony, and luxury.

The residence was completely and rebuilt, with walls removed to optimize the space. The ground floor accommodates all living areas and the master bedroom with walk in closet and bathroom, while the first floor provides a workspace for two people, including a spacious desk in the new dormer window. A guest room and an additional guest bathroom have also been designed. The interiorarchitect Inge van Poppel designed a completely new lighting plan, incorporating home automation to intelligently control the lighting in the home. The wiring for the audio and TV integration (Bang & Olufsen) was also carefully revised, ensuring all equipment blends seamlessly into the design.

The luxurious ambiance of the interior is enhanced by the use of exclusive materials and colors. The unique Italian Listone Giordano “Slide” wood flooring, expertly installed by BVO Woodculture. This flooring forms the backbone of the interior and creates a warm, refined atmosphere.
The living area has an open-plan feel, featuring a long, custom-made wall of cabinets finished in Alphenberg leather, which extends into the seating area and the inviting low dining area. Instead of traditional bar stools at the kitchen island, Inge designed this comfortable seating area with Minotti armchairs (Novalis O).

This offers clients the opportunity to enjoy breakfast together, a cup of coffee in the morning sun, or a glass of wine at the end of the working day. The lounge area is furnished with an Italian Galotti & Radice lounge sofa and a comfortable Jov rug (Novalis O), configured for a cozy movie night around the inviting built-in fireplace. The custom-made kitchen is a real eye-catcher, with a quartzite countertop in deep green natural stone and a sand-colored high-gloss island.

The rounded design of the island is echoed in the sides of the long wall of cabinets, visually connecting the design. The materials, including natural stone and Alphenberg leather, extend into the dining area with a wall of cabinets featuring a bar and wine cooler. This dining area is further furnished with an inviting dining bench, a pebble-shaped walnut dining table, and an eye-catching glass pendant lamp by Galotti & Radice.

The bold combinations of geometric patterns in the wooden floor, the upholstery of the sofa, the dining bench with its patterned wallpaper behind it, and the steel doors (de Rooy Steel Doors) inlaid with a pattern of Alphenberg leather, create the unique look of this interior. The master bedroom has been redesigned, featuring a walk-in bathroom and a custom-made wardrobe wall and vanity in a Decolegno bronze look.

The “Jewel Box” project is a beautiful example of how luxury, refinement, and functionality can go hand in hand. Through the careful selection of materials, the sophisticated lighting plan, and the bespoke designs, a home has been created that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also fully meets the residents’ wishes and needs. The result is a unique, intimate, and precious “jewel box,” where every detail has been meticulously crafted to create a warm and luxurious atmosphere.
