Milano Design Week 2025
Milano Design Week 2025
On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2025, Listone Giordano, a leading brand in high-end wooden flooring, will be among the key players at the world’s most important design event through two exceptional collaborations
At both the Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone, visitors will be able to discover Nui, the new creation by Piero Lissoni, inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Sashimono, and Trafic, the eclectic collection designed by Marc Sadler, which reinterprets 19th-century pavés de bois in a contemporary key
These new additions to the Natural Genius catalog will culminate in the special event Haptic, a tactile and sonic performance exploring the principles of haptic design, set to take place at the Listone Giordano Arena on April 9.

NUI

NUI, AN INTROSPECTIVE JOURNEY INTO MINIMALISM AND THE CULTURE OF MEMORY
Nui, from the Japanese word for “sewing,” perfectly embodies the essence of this wooden flooring, reflecting on the concept of connections through a minimalist design that evokes Japanese culture and the art of Sashimono, a dry wood joinery system meaning “things joined together.” This collection is characterized by Piero Lissoni’s delicate touch, transforming simplicity into something unique and timeless.
The “stitching” becomes an aesthetic element that captivates at first glance with its purity and elegance, transcending trends to become a timeless decorative solution. This stylistic sign that does not tire but seduces, conveys peace and tranquillity, capturing the essence of the savoir faire of the shipwrights of centuries past.
TRAFIC

A TIME MACHINE CALLED TRAFIC
Reinterpreting the 19th-century end-grain wood pavements of London, Paris, and New York, Trafic pays tribute to a past marked by change, innovation and new lifestyles. It creates a dialogue with history, prompting reflections on the present, the rapid pace of change, and the need to rediscover authentic connections with our roots.
Designer’s Insight
“Thanks to a specialized process developed by Listone Giordano to ensure stability, we have successfully overcome the moisture-related expansion and contraction challenges that end-grain wood typically presents. This allows Trafic to deliver exceptional resistance to foot traffic wear. Notably, this flooring was widely used in the 19th and 20th centuries to pave major city streets, such as those in Paris and London, not only for its durability but also for its ability to absorb the noise of horse-drawn carriages. Beyond its technical features, Trafic stands out for its aesthetic versatility.
The different surface patterns of the wood blocks allow for custom-designed flooring, featuring planar, horizontally milled, vertically milled, or cross-milled textures, providing endless creative possibilities. Adding to this is the extensive color range, with eight different colors, offering a new design language limited only by the architect’s creativity trying his hand at this highly expressive piece of furniture.”
SPECIAL EVENT AL FUORISALONE
HAPTIC: THE COLLECTIVE PERFORMANCE UNITING DESIGN, MUSIC AND TECHNOLOGY
Following the success of the Resonating Trees project, Listone Giordano and composer Federico Ortica collaborate once again to create another unique, interactive experience centered around haptic design.
Haptic is a collective performance based on the Conduction technique pioneered by Butch Morris, a real-time improvisational conducting method. Through a gestural language, the Conductor will guide 15 “musician/guests,” shaping an evolving sonic flow that enhances the unique timbral qualities of wooden objects.
The conduction technique will transform the ensemble into a fluid sound organism, alternating between density and sparsity, exploring natural soundscapes and processed concrete sounds. This unique sonic experience balances improvisation and composition, where gesture becomes music.
What is a conduction?
Conduction is an ensemble music directing practice created and developed by the American composer, conductor and arranger Lawrence D. ‘Butch’ Morris and based on a codified lexicon of hand signals that convey specific instructions for musical interpretation. Conceived as an instrument, conduction allows one to lead an ensemble with or without the aid of musical writing by establishing the musical coordinates for an ensemble dialogue, and in doing so creates a new space and new conditions for interaction in improvisation.
Conduction proposes a common language that can be used within and across musical genres; in Morris’s vision, it creates a bridge between written music and improvisation – as well as between different musical styles and traditions – by drawing on the culture, improvisational skills, imagination and creativity of each individual musician who participates, while at the same time enhancing them.
