Between Concrete and Wood: A Project of Architectural Freedom

A bold and unconventional architectural vision defines the project by CI MA Studio, where trapezoidal spaces, beams, and pillars become opportunities to experiment with custom solutions. Each element is reinterpreted with creative freedom and design coherence.

The goal was to create an additional room for the children. The choices, radical yet playful, include opening up the spaces, exposing the concrete structure, and using white and wood to visually expand the interiors. The kitchen, located near the entrance, is subtly integrated to emphasize the living area.

The house revolves around a clear vision: eliminating compromises and enhancing materiality. White, concrete, touches of red, and birch—the project’s material leitmotif—define a language that is both essential and warm.

The flooring by Listone Giordano was used to give character to the spaces with customized geometries. It is not just a floor but a true design element: in the living area, the light oak laid in a running pattern is interrupted by refined dark wood inlays that create rhythm and structure within the space.

In the master bedroom, however, the parquet reaches its expressive peak: the Fabrique wooden floor designed by Marc Sadler, made of end-cut birch, transforms into a contemporary tatami, complemented by a birch plywood headboard that conceals the wardrobe behind it.

CASA B.V. can be seen as a design manifesto: every choice, from the layout to the custom furnishings, reflects a vision of living that combines compositional rigor with sensory pleasure. Design is never mere decoration, but lived architecture, and the material and aesthetic contribution of the flooring is essential to achieving the balance between structure, emotion, and functionality that gives identity and warmth to the entire space.
